Shaun Whitley
Respected as a riveting and sensitive artist, Shaun
Whitley is a multi-instumentlist, composer, Jeff nomiated music director and Kenedy Center/ACTF nominated actor. He studied acting at
the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, and currently resides in Chicago, making his Apollo Theater debut in
the Chicago cast of Million Dollar Quartet.
He co-created and co-composed the score to Vive
La Fontaine!, a neo-vaudeville adaptation of the fables of Jean de la Fontaine for the French-speaking
Theatre du Reve. Frequently combining his acting and musical talents, Mr. Whitley composed original music for
a London production of Twelfth Night, in which he also performed the role of Orsino; in Chicago,
he has doubled as actor and musical director in Uncle Vanya and the national premier of Tracks
(TUTA Theatre Co.). Further credits include flute/thisbe for A Midsummer Night's Dream
(Chicago Shakespeare), and bass/mandolin for Cotton Patch Gospel (Provision Theatre
Company); Jim in Pump Boys and Dinettes (Drury Lane Theater - Oakbrook); Tommy, u/s Buddy
Holly in Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story (Drury Lane Theater - Water Tower);Woody
Guthrie's American Song (Blindfaith Theatre); and Smoke on the Mountain (Provision
Theatre Company).
In Atlanta Mr. Whitley has worked extensively with Village
Playhouses of Roswell and Theatre in the Square, and has appeared as Mordred in Camelot
(Atlanta Lyric Theatre), Tranio in The Taming of the Shrew (Theatre Noble), and recieved Best
Actor nomination in the Kennedy Center/ACTF for his portrayal of Vince in Buried Child (Classic
TheatreWorks). He has been featured at Serendipity Theatre's "2nd Story" Festival, and plays
guitar/vocals with the band "The Savage Young". For Melpomene Records Shaun Whitley
originates the role of Valmont on the Complete Original Concept Recording of Dangerous Liaisons.
